Manufacturing Samples

Following prototyping and tooling creation, manufacturing samples is the next step in the outsourced manufacturing process. When tooling is commissioned, the price includes the first article samples, up to five or six, depending on the size of the component, that the manufacturer will provide. However, pre-production sample lots are available upon request for 32 or 64 units.

Outsourced Manufacturing Samples for Added Quality Assurance

The sampling process involves producing your components in their final materials and dimensions to ensure quality and consistency throughout manufacturing. Once the samples are complete, we conduct a detailed inspection of the parts and provide a report on their uniformity.

Manufacturing samples offer insights into the production process, allowing you to determine the manufacturing consistency and functional success of your components before beginning full-scale production. This step is designed to determine where manufacturing inconsistencies arise during the process, as well as weed out imperfections for enhanced quality assurance in outsourced manufacturing operations.

How Does Manufacturing Sampling Differ from Prototyping?

Prototyping creates a non-functional product, usually made from resin or plastic rather than its desired materials, to determine the fit and dimensions of the part. Alternatively, sampling offers a comprehensive look at production processes to ensure the overall success and consistency of production for repeatable and uniform parts.
