Internationally Sourced Hot Forgings

Hot Forging Process In Industrial Factory

Offshore sourcing for custom steel forgings manufactured to meet your requirements

Hot forging is a metalworking process in which metals are plastically deformed above their recrystallization temperature. This process allows the material to retain its distorted shape as it cools. Sun Fast provides an unprecedented approach to offshore hot forging and impression forging. Our experts deliver proven industrial isothermal forging outsourcing services for the steel and metal industries.

At Sun Fast, we’re dedicated to helping clients find qualified overseas trading partners and manufacturers for their industrial hot metal forging production needs. We streamline our clients’ supply chains, resulting in a more significant competitive advantage and increased customer satisfaction.

Contact us for more information regarding our industrial hot forging offshore capabilities, or call us at 714-680-8288 , and we will gladly assist you with any questions you may have. Sun Fast is your trusted resource for steel and hot metal forging and impression forging.

Advantages to Globally Sourced Hot Forging Production

Sun Fast offers strategic sourcing for hot forged metal parts and components. Working from your designs, our hot forging partners can produce high-quality parts that meet your unique requirements. There are numerous benefits when choosing to outsource hot forging abroad for your projects and offshore objectives, some of which include the following.

  • Enhanced Safety & Security
  • Improved Cost & Time Savings
  • Localized Representation

Custom Hot Forging Benefits

Hot forging of metals as a fabrication technique has been around for centuries. Through the hot metal forging process, the mechanical properties of the metal forged are improved through its grain structure, making it tougher and more robust.

Hot forging can be utilized with almost any metal and can fabricate a wide range of parts. There are numerous advantages that hot forging can provide over cold heading. Some of the more common advantages of isothermal hot forging include:

  • Good ductility
  • Excellent surface quality
  • Increased flexibility
  • Good for custom parts

Hot Metal Forging Materials

Hot forging can be used to fabricate a broad spectrum of parts and can be performed with most metal materials, including:

Hot Metal Forged Product Applications

Our hot forging offshore partners can create custom parts that match your exact design specifications. Sun Fast can deliver hot forgings in a wide variety of sizes and metal options. The strength and durability of hot metal forged parts make them ideal for more rugged applications, some of which include:

Industrial Hot Forging Manufacturing Process

Hot forging begins with a forged metal ingot or a cast metal piece. The working stock is heated until it reaches its plastic deformation temperature (recrystallization temperature), maintained throughout the hot metal forging process. Depending on the material, this temperature can be as high as 1200°C. As the material is formed and shaped, its grain structure is broken down and homogenized into finer grains, which increases the yield strength, ductility, and toughness of the material.

Hot die forgings are usually manufactured in multiple steps. Semi-finished rolled products (round or rectangular sections) are used as blanks. In rare cases, continuous-cast material or profiled semi-finished products can be used. Because every hot forging our offshore partners provide is custom-made, the design possibilities are all but limitless.

The Hot Forgings Cooling Process

After the hot metal forging process ends, parts must be cooled rapidly to “set” the metal in its new shape. Care must be taken in the cooling process, however, as cooling hot forged parts too quickly can result in warping. Additionally, the hot forging manufacturing process produces little to no material scrap, making it one of the most efficient fabrication methods available.

Flash & Flashless Hot Forgings

Hot forgings can be divided into forgings with and without flash. Flash is necessary to produce complex 3D geometries with local cross-sections and secondary design elements. The flash acts as a brake on the material flow and slows the flow of excess material. Thus, high internal pressure is built up in the die, which forces the remaining material into the die cavities.

Flashless forgings are generally limited to axisymmetric components or components with cyclic-symmetric geometries.
