Advanced Precision Finishing Options

We can provide our customers with superior quality military-standard passivation services for their metal and plastic components and fully assembled products using strategic sourcing methodology and our long-established worldwide connections.

At Sun Fast, our expert team provides numerous value-added services and decades of experience to minimize risks and streamline your finishing service requirements. Precision CNC machining finish options include:

  • Zinc plating
  • Chrome plating
  • Nickel plating
  • Anodizing
  • Stainless steel passivation
  • Polishing
  • E-Coating
  • Powder Coating

Stainless Steel Passivation

The most effective way to protect stainless steel parts and components from rust and corrosion is to shield them via a passivation process that prevents impurities from destroying the metal substrate. Stainless steel passivation removes exogenous “free iron” and iron compounds from the stainless-steel material’s surface. Once the treated surface is exposed to the air, it develops a thin oxide layer that covers and protects the underlying layers from corrosion.

Zinc Plating

Eco-friendly zinc plating enhances the appearance, corrosion resistance, strength, and temperature tolerance of iron, steel, and other metals. It acts as a sacrificial coating that prevents corrosion from affecting the underlying metal.

Chrome Plating

Commonly used to enhance the corrosion resistance, durability, and appearance of rims, engine components, trim pieces, and other automotive parts, chrome plating finishing processes provide a smooth and easy-to-maintain surface. Chrome-plated parts and components maintain increased wear resistance when exposed to mechanical stress.

Nickel Plating

Nickel plating utilizes an electric current to apply a thin nickel coating to a metal substrate. The nickel finish boosts corrosion resistance while enhancing the visual construct of the component. Precision nickel finishing services also provide improved ductility, increased hardness and stability, and increased protection against harsh outdoor environments.

Anodizing

Advanced anodizing finishing services protect aluminum and other metals from the destructive forces of corrosion while enhancing the metal’s aesthetic qualities and preventing scratching. Like nickel plating, the anodizing process utilizes an electrical charge to attach the coating to the metal substrate successfully.

E-Coating

E-coating utilizes an immersive water-based mixed solution coating process to protect metal substrates from corrosion while improving wear and tear resistance. E-coating costs less than electroplating finishing services and does not alter the base metal it is applied.

Polishing

Precision metal polishing services provides a reflective sheen to dull metal surfaces while removing oxidation and preventing corrosion. Polishing services are commonly used with stainless steel and are primarily used to protect the metal substrate, increase durability, and enhance aesthetic appeal.

Powder Coating

Powder coating is a dry finishing process applied via electrostatic spray deposition (ESD) to an electrically grounded metal substrate or by dipping preheated parts into powder material within a fluidized bed. Advantages of powder coating include enhanced durability, thicker coatings, decreased environmental impact, and greater material utilization.

RoHS Compliant Plating Services Available

Concerns about protecting the environment have led to more stringent global regulations regarding the use of certain materials in various manufacturing processes such as electroplating. Upon customer request, Sun Fast can provide plating services that are RoHS compliant.
